Animated Foods

Post  Darkchild on Thu Oct 01, 2009 5:13 am

This may seem a bit childish, but does anyone recollect how they perceived food in animation to taste like, and how they tasted profoundly different in real life? I remember watching all these Disney cartoons and thinking how scrumptious the various foods would look and taste. Peas, slices of ham, big ol' slabs of meat on a bone, mangos that seemed to be oh-so-rubbery good, etc. Then I got a rude awakening indeed, when I raided the pantry and sunk my teeth into a raw carrot. How it tasted oh-so-bitter. My fantasy world caved in after that incident, and I would stare in disdain whenever I witnessed such delectable foods in my favorite cartoons again.

Sad

Chicken legs always looked scrummy in Disney movies and very much the food of gluttony. I think it is the whole tearing the meat from the bone kinda fashion of eating. I always loved eating KFC when I lived in Japan. It was like 'cool' when I was in High School. Us Japanese love hanging out at McDonalds too when we are growing up.

Japanese can get it so wrong sometimes.

In the terms of being disappointed, I distinctly remember beer not being up to scratch the first time I tasted it. I thought it was going to be creamy like an ice cream (my Dad drinks Guiness). Beer looks good in animation as well.

I have no problem with the beer taste now of course. lol.
